Salary: £20K - £30K based on experience + private health insurance + pension
Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5pm
Our client is a well established trusted name in packaging solutions with tailored solutions to meet the diverse needs of food packaging production worldwide. They are looking for a highly organised and customer-focused individual to join the team as a Logistics Co-ordinator within our warehouse operation. You will be responsible for managing the smooth and efficient flow of goods from suppliers to the site and then onto customers. The Logistics Co-ordinator plays a key role in maintaining relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams while ensuring cost-effective and compliant logistics practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport Coordination: Organise and schedule shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods, both inbound and outbound, using various modes of transportation (road, air, sea, rail).
- Supplier and Carrier Management: Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, and transport carriers to arrange and manage deliveries, negotiate rates, and ensure service level agreements are met.
- Shipment Tracking: Track shipments, monitor progress, and communicate any delays or issues to relevant stakeholders, ensuring customer expectations are met.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, ensuring all required paperwork is accurate and complete.
- Customs Compliance: Ensure all international shipments comply with UK and international customs regulations, including accurate documentation and declaration of goods.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control logistics costs, looking for opportunities to reduce transportation expenses.
- Logistics Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports on key logistics metrics, such as shipping costs, delivery times, and supplier performance, and provide regular updates to management.
- Driving FLT and Helping in the Warehouse: Assist with forklift operations and general warehouse duties as needed.
Skills:
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve logistical challenges, such as shipment delays, damaged goods, or transport disruptions, to ensure minimal impact on operations.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all logistics activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Organisational Skills: Strong time management and organisational abilities to manage multiple shipments and logistics tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for managing documentation, tracking shipments, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
- Knowledge: Understanding of UK and international logistics regulations, including customs procedures and transport regulations.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Sage 50 or similar order processing systems.
